Past project

Kit out your vehicle in 3D, then buy it in one click

With Identikit, we built Front Runner's 3D 'Outfit my vehicle' configurator. Shoppers could build a full kit on their vehicle and send every part to the cart.

The brief

Front Runner makes roof racks and vehicle accessories in Cape Town and is now part of Dometic. They wanted shoppers to see a whole kit on their own vehicle before buying, and then buy every part at once. Identikit led the relationship and the user experience. We built the configurator.

Delivered with Identikit, with 3D models by Battalion Media.

What we did

  • A 3D 'Outfit my vehicle' configurator, running as its own fast site
  • Part names and prices for South Africa and the US, pulled from Front Runner's store
  • A daily price sync, so discounts always showed correctly
  • One link that drops the whole kit into the shopping cart
  • Hosting that scales with traffic, plus updates for the move to Dometic

The result

Dometic's European team reviewed it for an international rollout and were impressed. The rollout was later paused, so the configurator never went live. It still shows what a configurator can do for an accessories brand.

“You have done an impressive work on this configurator! It is a helpful tool for customers and consumers.”
